Almora Master Weaver

Sunder Singh at the pit-loom

Every saree carries the slight irregular rhythm of the handloom that formed it. Weaving cooperatives in Almora maintain ancestral geometric treadle patterns passed down through centuries.

No chemical mordants or synthetic pigments enter the workshop vats; colors are extracted entirely from wild madder, walnut hulls, and Himalayan indigo.
